Petrus De Ruyver
(b. 1842)

As written in the chapter about Pieter Joseph De Ruyver (1787-1853), he and his wife, Natalie Troncquo, got 5 children in Zegelsem, of which one died as a child. The four other children married and got children of their own. Here below, an overview of the descendants of these four children is given on the basis of a study done in 1985. In that year, a family reunion of all these descendants was held in the village of Nederbrakel, part of the Municipality of Brakel. The situation described here below is the situation of the descendants in 1985.

Petrus was born on March 10, 1842 around 4 p.m. (1). He married Virginie Lison (2), and got at least seven children with her:

Omer De Ruyver was born on July 26, 1874, in Michelbeke (now part of the Municipality of Brakel). He married Rosalie Romijns, daughter of Petrus Romijns and Coletta De Weerdt. Rosalie was born on January 2, 1882, in the village of Elst (now part of the Municipality of Brakel). The wedding of Omer and Rosalie took place on July 24, 1901, in Elst. They got 5 sons and 3 daughters. One son died as baby, and another one never married. The remaining six children married and got descendants. Omer De Ruyver, who died on April 9, 1923, in Elst, and Rosalie Romijns, who died on October 31, 1964, in Elst, had by 1985 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. According to some descendants, Omer De Ruyver died at the age of 48 due to too much hard work.

Remi De Ruyver, who never married.

Julien De Ruyver married Zo・瘢雹Romijns. Julien and Zo・瘢雹got one daughter, Irma De Ruyver, who married Hubert Van Ham. Irma died at the age of 25, without having had any children.

Victor De Ruyver was killed at the front during the First World War in 1914. He was not married.

Leonie De Ruyver died without having been married.

Elodie De Ruyver, too, died without having been married.

Irma De Ruyver died at the age of 18.

According to the descendants of Omer De Ruyver, it is not excluded that Petrus De Ruyver had more children. Anyhow, these children would have got no descendants, otherwise they would have been known to the descendants of Omer De Ruyver. More genealogical investigation is needed here to clarify.
