A Commemoration Of Life
David Eli Ruffin, left us in the flesh on June 1,
1991 but never in spirit. He
left an indelible mark on our hearts and minds through his great musical
talents. He was indeed a great song stylist and performer. He interpreted the
songs he sang through his own experiences in life. And, he was not afraid to
express the deep and raw emotions these songs called for. That is the reason
why the songs he sang came out so real and had such an impact on the listener.
Many who have shared so much of themselves with others seem to suffer a deep
and internal pain inside. And it's often through their great pain that they
are able to release their uncommon gifts. This was the case with David
Ruffin. Yes, he was indeed gifted and shared it with the world.
And, although we grieve his loss, we must remember that a spirit so bold and
full of life will not really be silenced as long as we listen to and enjoy
the wonderful music he left behind for us to enjoy. Yes, this is his legacy.
So although we grieve at the great loss, we also rejoice that the VOICE of
the great David Ruffin will live on as long as we listen to his songs. And
this indeed must make him happy.
