| Tips to visiting Rome: Forget about storing the luggage at the luggage keeping of the Termini station - the line must be at least an hour long (and my visit to Rome was not in season) - better try and go straight to the hotel. On Monday most of the museums are closed - instead walk around the streets, see the Forum or Colosseum or the Vatican Museums which are open. Note that most churches are open until noon, and then again between 3pm to 5pm. Most museums are open until 7pm. On rainy day - visit the Vatican Museums or the Capitoline museum. Always take care to take the official guided tour inside and not the ones outside (such as in the Colloseum. It is simpler to buy a ticket to the Palatine Hill and the Colosseum at the Palatine Hill where there is no line of tourists waiting. |
