Day 26: The City & Imperial War Museum
Day 26 -- Friday -- 03/01/03
The City & The Imperial War Museum:
            The City:
I finally came to see the
*** Tower of London. I took a Beefeater tour and it was great. Later I saw the old tudor palace there, and the white tower with the arms exhibition inside, and the Queen's Jewels of course.
After spending there about 3 hours, I took the subway to Barbican Station (Circle line), and went to see the City of London Museum -- which is nice -- but not much to see. I saw the Roman Wall, the golden coach of the Lord Mayor, and an interesting recreation of the Great Fire.
The Barbican area is built in a Brutalistic style -- which means a lot of concrete -- and ugly buildings. It was built between 1950 -- 1980.

** The Imperial War Museum:
The Imperial war is very big. I spent there about two hours and saw very little of it. I saw an exhibition about the First World War, with a very lifelike recreation of the trenches. There is an interesting recreation of London in the Blitz. I saw an interesting exhibition about the Holocaust -- but didnt have time to see an exhibition about spies and spying in the 20th century.
