Dermot Mulroney - Raw dedication
During the production of Wedding Date, Dermot Mulroney shot a nude scene with Debra Messing.  Dermot was later asked why he opted to perform "in the raw" rather than use some modesty patches.
His reply? "I had to. I'm a professional!"

"After (my father) had seen me in five or six films, he said, Son your mother and I really enjoyed your recent film, and I must say that you're a lot like John Wayne.  And I said, How so? and he said, Well, you're exactly the same in all your roles.  Now, as a modern american actor, thats not what you want to hear. But for a guy who watched John Wayne movies and grew up in Iowa, its a sterling compliment."
On His role on "The Family Stone"
"I play the oldest of the Stone adult children who come home for christmas. And I bring my fiancee. Sarah Jessica Parker playes that role.  And everybody just can't stand her from the start.  She gets off on the wrong foot and then just makes it worse.  She's hilarious in this movie because she basically gets emotionally abused by Diane Keaton and Luke (Wilson) and Rachel McAdams and one of the other sisters.  Its pretty brutal but really funny, and there's real strong dramatic elements as well.  Its great fun to work on that movie.  Hopefully it'll reflect that experience that I had. I think i'll be good.

"Young Dermot Mulroney was encouraged by his parents to take up cello.  Years later, he formed a "punk-folk band" (the low and sweet orchestra) with guitarist Zander Schloss of (circle jerks fame), vocalist Mike Hart (an eleven year veteran of The Pogues), and violinist Keiran Mulroney (Dermot's brother).
"At one concert", he later recalled,"some Circle Jerks fan was getting into our music and she was spitting on the stage and it was landing on (my treasured 100 year old)cello.  So I went up to Zander and said, ' Tell your Circle Jerk groupie to lay off my instrument.' He leaned into a microphone and yelled, ' Hey, just because we call ourselves an orchestra doens't mean we won't come down there and kick your ass!' That ended the spitting real quick."
