Good News Week is a satirical game show that first screened on the ABC back in 1996.  The show is hosted by Paul McDermott, and features two opposing teams, captained by Mikey Robins and Julie McCrossin.  The teams change each week and feature comedians, television stars, comedians and even politicians.  The teams dissect the week's events in a game show format, the only prize for winning is just that, winning.  While on the ABC they also did a show called Good News Weekend.

In March 1999, Good News Week moved to Channel Ten.  A second show, GNW Night Lite, screened also, and featured more light entertainment and musical performances.  Flacco and Sandman also made appearances on Night Lite.  In 2000 only one show was screened, which was a combination of GNW and Night Lite.  During the year they have also done several comedy debates and a few specials.

For the last few years GNW has travelled to Melbourne during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, filming GNW shows and also Flacco & Sandman specials and debates.  They've also travelled to Brisbane for the annual writer's festival and to Perth to film a New Years special.

There is a video available called "GNW: Unseen & Obscene" which features some hilarious behind-the-scenes footage and some bits and pieces that for some reason or another didn't make it to television.  Rumour has it another video will be released at the end of 2000.  There have also been GNW CDs and books released, plus t-shirts and caps and other things.

GNW will not be returning to our screens in it's current format in 2001.  Julie is doing her own talk show on the ABC over the summer called "McCrossin", it's rumoured that she'll be back with Paul and Mikey with a new show on Ten in 2001.
The final GNW was filmed at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney on November 8th.  I was fortunate enough to see this live and I'll have photos up very soon.
