Chinese painting of a giraffe with two Arab guides. (15th cent)

Author unknown; painted on silk 54 by 331/3 inch
Animal is provided with green headstall, neck adorned with a tassel of horse-hair dyed red and surmounted by metalwork. The tassel is of Chinese make; The two Arabs are clad in long, red girdled gowns and red boots.
