:: "Yoshiru Ferrari and Thunderbirds" |
Date finished: May 2002
Comments: A picture I had drawn for a friend of mine, Yoshiru Ferrari. It was my first decent computer-coloring, I suppose. I think it came out pretty good for the time I drew it. Looking back, I shouldn't have been so skimpy with the shading, but, y'know. You're your own toughest critic.

:: "Snowball Fight" |
Date finished: December 22, 2002
Comments: Man, I can't wait until winter. My second, "successful" attempt at computer coloring. This pic was drawn during a light snow. Snow is probably my favorite natural thing ever. Plus, I had tried out Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land for the first time and was excited about it. Chilly is my favorite Kirby helper (he's from Kirby Super Star). Kirby has Freeze ability in this pic. Cool enough, the Freeze costume in Nightmare in Dream Land is the same as the Ice Climbers costume in Super Smash Bros. Melee, so it has a double-dose of recognition. Things I would improve upon, given the chance, would likely be the shading on the pile of snowballs, which looks a little funky. All and all, I think this picture came out good.

:: "D.J. K.K." |
Date finished: March 21, 2002
Comments: Word, son. DJ KK rocks the house! I think this pic came out good, even though it's only a sketch. I don't have any immediate plans to color it, but maybe someday if I want a quick project, I'll give it a shot. Inspired by the song "DJ KK", I actually drew this for my Studio Art class. I got a lot of complements on it. In fact, one girl swiped it and refused to give it back to me. I simply told her I'd make her a copy. Did I? No. Does she remember? Nope. I don't even remember who it was. So, things have a funny way of working out.

:: "Puffstool" |
Date finished: March 21, 2002
Comments: This is an old pic I had made. During Camp Hyrule '03, there was a "Pikmin 2" art challenge, and I dusted off this baby, added a few colors and filters, and shipped it off. It didn't win the contest, though. But that's okay, I'm satisfied with the way it came out. For those of you who aren't familiar with Pikmin, when you attack a Puffstool, it releases a spore that takes over the central nervous system of Pikmin. The Pikmin then grow mushrooms on their heads and attack Capt. Olimar. I went for the "creep-me-out" approach with this pic. I added some dark colors and filters to give it an almost "soggy" feel. I've also been told that the Pikmin looks a lot like the work of Jhonen Vasquez (the creator of Invader Zim). Now that I look at it, it does kinda look like that. Hm.
