We've all been keeping ourselves busy this winter. After a whirlwind holidays season that featured time in Wisconsin and Texas, we got back to business. Jen took a class right after the New Year before her busy regular semester began. Meredith had so much fun over the holidays. In late January, she still loves to sing "Frosty the Snowman" more than anything else. Meredith also looks for "Christmas lights" when we're driving when it's dark. The biggest development in January has been in the potty training department. Meredith has been doing a good job of using the potty, and recently got to go to the store to select some "big kid underpants." (She picked out the ones with Dora the Explorer.) She still wears diapers much of the time, but she's improving every day. Every once in a while one of her grandparents gets a phone call from Meredith letting them know of the most recent development in potty training. This month also featured a visit from Meredith's Grandpa Dave and Grandma Cathy. As usual, she was sad to see them go after a few days of fun. We were all stuck inside for the most part during the visit (it being January in Minnesota), but somehow found enough to do. The grandparents also generously put Meredith to bed and gave Jen and I a night out, where we proceded to eat the fastest dinner ever at Good Earth so that we could make the showing of Kong--quite a spectacular movie. Last weekend, Meredith got to go on an exciting outing. Thanks to a recent donation to the local public television station, we received tickets to see "Sesame Street Live featuring Super Grover." Meredith was excited to bring along her friend Jackson to the 90 minute performance by all her favorite characters on her favorite show. The show focused heavily on how to be healthy--which worked well when they started selling cotton candy during intermission. Meredith liked the songs, but was worried that the end of each song meant that the show was over. So she was disappointed when it actually was over. But a fun time was had. And once Meredith got home she was tired from all the excitement and asked to go to bed. I also recently got a new computer for my birthday. It is a no-frills, but small, compact laptop. I look forward to having fewer excuses in not updating the website now. Keep warm! -DBR |
