| March 13, 2005-- The last three weeks have been non-stop eventful at the Reise household. First of all, Meredith had two, back-to-back nasty illnesses. One involving throwing up in the middle of the night and the other involving an ear infection. Fortunately, she was feeling good enough on the days that both sets of grandparents visited (and her Uncle Dave). With Grandma and Grandpa Burrows, Meredith went to the zoo. To her grandparents disappointment she fell asleep in the car on the way there. But she still had lots of fun with them and was sad when they got in the car to go. (She said "bye-bye" long after they were gone.) Grandma and Grandpa Randolph, and Uncle Dave swung through on their way to California. They brought Meredith to the Children's Museum--which was over-run with hundreds of toddlers at various levels of excitement. Meredith enjoyed exploring the museum and was so tuckered out afterwards that she took a three hour nap. Meredith hit the 18 month mark a few days ago and her vocabulary has increased dramatically (see "Vocabulary Note" below). She has also began to sing back to her mom--matching both sounds and pitches--a very exciting development. February 19, 2005-- Meredith is getting older. In recenty weeks her parents have been putting pig-tails in her hair because of the big mop on top of her head. She's still getting used to them. If she can make it to daycare without pulling them out, that's an accomplishment. Her dad is also slowly learning how to put pig-tails in. It's a difficult thing to learn on a non-cooperative toddler with fine hair. At least her hair is super straight. This has also been the week of a big new word: "Mine." Meredith's parents theorize that the new word was learned from friends at daycare. With the new knowledge of this powerful word has come widespread usage. Her parents are finding new ways to combat and distract Meredith's new found possessiveness. |
