July 5, 2005

We all had a fabulous 4th of July weekend in Minneapolis with near perfect weather for the occasion. Meredith's (third?) cousin, Jaz, came to visit with his parents, Sarah and Jean in tow. Jaz is one year older than Meredith. The two played very well. Jaz liked being the big kid and Meredith was happy to follow Jaz and imitate him.

Meredith and Jaz had the exciting adventure of going on the light rail train in Minneapolis. They even went through a tunnel. The next day they had plenty of fun at the beach on Lake Nokomis in south Minneapolis.

Meredith has shown a recent interest in all things related to the potty. With a dozen other toddlers at daycare, let's just say it's a frequent subject of conversation. She has a Sesame Street potty seat booster and likes to sit on the potty. She's in make-believe mode and her parents don't anticipate a real 'potty episode' for quite a while.

While wading in the lake, Meredith discovered that she can float. She crawled on her hands and knees, and when the water got sufficiently deep she started kicking back her legs and letting them float. Later, she and her cousin took a bath and had the most fun time ever (see below). It was quite a thrill and we have the feeling the girl's going to be a swimmer someday.
