Last weekend we had a nice outdoor summer party at our place. The weather cooperated insomuch that there was no rain, but it was a hot and humid day. A nice breeze made the day bearable. Lots of food and drink were had, and people seemed to enjoy themselves.

Meredith enjoyed having people over for fun--kids and adults alike. She stays up super late with the guests. A couple days after the party, sitting with her parents for dinner, Meredith looked around and asked, "peoples? my peoples? my peoples?" She couldn't figure out why none of her "peoples" were there. I guess her parents aren't all that exciting.

Meredith is doing more pretend and imagination. She likes to play with her kitchen toys like she's making and tasting food. She initiates subject matter. For instance, starting a conversation with her parents over dinner about things in the sky. Meredith has also taken to pretending to have conversations on her toy phone. She'll put it to her ear and say, "Gramma? Bop-pop [grandpa]?" Earlier last week, she looked down the basement stairs and called for grandma. (Her grandparents stay in the basement room when they come to visit.)
