Happened at: Anaheim, CA
Story: Since my family and I are such big yankee freaks we found out from a
friend where the yankees were staying. Since they were playing on the weekdays we thought we would have a better chance to meet them.
On Tuesday we met like all the Yankees. Paul, Tino, El Duque, Maraino, Mendonza, Cone, and a few others. Well since we didn't see Derek we went to go where they usually load the bus. The security guard told us that derek got up early and rented a car for the day so he was gone. I was kinda bummed. So we went back into the lobby. I was tired of waiting all day so I went up to the room.
Five minutes later I hear a knock on the door. It was my brother he told me that they just saw derek jeter. I didn't believe him but he showed me his autograph on the back of his shirt. I was so upset. I cried for like 2 hours. When we went to the game that night it didn't help.
So the next day I waited in the lobby the whole day. Later on all the Yankees were coming down and checkin out. (they all looked really good) I saw everyone that day. So finally it was getting kinda late and my mom just kept tellin me to wait. Jorge came out and Cone so we learned where there's a Jorge there's a Jeter.
Two seconds later Derek came out of the elevator. I ran up to him and said his name and asked him for a pic. He was so nice and said yes (he looked really good in a suit too hehe). We really couldn't talk cause he was in a rush. But he was really nice to stop. It made my day/year/life and I got a nice pic to prove it.

Happened at: Fenway Park, Boston
Story: I have had the pleasure of meeting Derek a number of times. The most recent encounter occurred in Boston. I have a sign which I bring to every game I go to and we arrived to Fenway Park just as the gates were opening.
As soon as I got in, I ran to the visiting teams dugout and stood there holding up my sign. Derek saw me immediately (he was having a catch with Tino) and waved to me. So, we just stood there watching batting practice and all. I don't know if you've ever noticed but at EVERY game Derek puts a baseball in his back pocket and gives it to a fan. So, jokingly I said, "Derek's going to give that ball to me." Well, sure enough, as Derek was coming towards the dugout he looked up at me, pointed to me and then threw me the ball. I was so shocked and excited, plus I was shaking. I said thank you and just smiled the whole time. Then, he came back out of the dugout to take batting practice in the cage.
Well, again we all just watched the Yankees practice and then batting practice was over and all the players were coming back towards the dugout, including Derek. He went down into the dugout and I thought he was done for the day, when suddenly Derek popped out of the dugout right in front of me and handed me his game used bat!! I thought I was going to faint! I couldn't believe it and neither could all the people around me. It was all sticky because of the pine tar and all and it has marks on it from where he hit the ball with it!!!! It was one of the best days of my life- plus it was the day after my sweet 16 birthday. This is definitely a birthday I will never forget!!!!! To top it all off, my brother got the entire incident on videotape!!!! I never get sick of watching it!!! Well, hope you liked my Derek Jeter encounter.
