This photo was taken from the northeast end of the plaza overlooking the San Andreas Fault and the San Benito Valley. To the lower right is one of the few original, unpaved portions of El Camino Real, the road which linked all 21 missions from San Diego to Sonoma, & which was the backbone upon which California was built.
