Facade of Mission Dolores Basilica. At the right of the photo is the bell that signifies the route of "El Camino Real". The bells have been placed at intervals along the route from San Diego to the northernmost mission at Sonoma, California.
Often they can be found in very unexpected places. I recall one on Ventura Blvd, in Encino tucked into a motel's flower bed beside the Motion Picture Contract Services Administration & Trust Fund Offices. (DLW, August 1998)
