Facades of Mission Dolores and, to its north, Mission Dolores Basilica, situated at the corner of 16th & Dolores Streets in the Mission District. The basilica replaced a church destroyed in the 1906 quake. It was completed in 1913 in the Mission style, but remodeled in a more Baroque style in 1926. In 1952 it was designated a basilica in honor of the mission's historical significance. (DLW, August 1998)
