Shelby cobra...

Originally, I posted this web page to show off my customized "Hot Rod" Cars... Primarily classics. Over the years I've owned (and modified) numerous cars. The culmination being a 1982 Trans-Am Firebird (T-top). i.e., a third generation firebird... For those of you that are less technically apt, it is commonly called here in Trinidad, The Knight rider model (after the TV show of the same name). Modification of cars, however, is expensive AND time consuming... I spent more time working on the car, as opposed to driving it!

P.S... Haven't paid much attention to my page... I'll upload some pictures of my ride soon! In the meantime, maybe you can check out these pics... The cars aren't mine, but at least they're beautiful to look at!! Classic Cars.

Well, let's get to the essentials... Why do I call my page a HOT ROD page and market it as a collection of thoughts, philosophies, and useful insights? Well, basically, I consider myself an artist, inasmuch as art encompasses the tenets involved in painting, writing or even designing web pages! Earlier I stated that my cars were expensive to build and maintain, as well as time consuming! Yet... I spent LARGE percentages of my paycheck (In excess of 70%) every month to have my "rides" looking all pretty and stuff... But, I never actually considered my "hobby" a chore... Instead, to me it was ART ON WHEELS! I never fixed a car for pleasure to anyone but myself! I was content once I was satisfied with the end product! (After all I am the artist!)

This characteristic has led me into the nexus of computer programming (although by NO means do I consider myself an expert... just a good beginner!). I have taught myself programming in Pascal, C++, Visual Basic and a host of other languages... I consider my use of algorithms to be my artistic thoughts in bytes... This is the purpose for my producing this web page i.e., to encourage other individuals with similar interests that YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Nor are you STRANGE... for aspiring to do OR achieve MORE than the norm...

I thirst for knowledge since I believe life is so much more than working, acquiring wealth or attaining hosts of material things... All this has it's place in the overall scheme of things and we need to acknowledge there is a very real, tangible SPIRITUAL side to humanity... I have known this since birth, but have generally ignored it till the age of 35, when I almost left this material world, for resurrective slumber. (More of this later... Let's deal with more immediate things...).

My journey through life has led me to read many books, both educational and philosophical... I have also searched for numerous tangible stimuli to feed my artistic hunger... for ART, cars, music, literature etc., The journey has been long and weary... I've decided to provide links to some internet sites that have helped me in my journey... I will not reinvent the wheel by expounding on the tenets, virtues or benefits of any of these links... (You can lead a horse to the water, but you can't make him drink...). If you thirst for knowledge (as I certainly do...), then these links may help you on your quest. (If it bores you, just move on!) I'll just provide various insights and links and you can search for your own particular interests...

Happy journey...

First... A little info about my hot-rod life...

My Transam was a T-top 1982 Firebird. I rebuilt the engine using some extra goodies. It had a 289 Erson Camshaft with lifters... An aluminium cam button and a double roller tip timing chain. The cylinders were bored out to 40 thou i.e., .004 cc. It also had an edelbrock street performer intake manifold and a holley four-barrel double pumper carburettor. The distributor was a Mallory billet aluminium one... It also had a fireball ignition system, Accel plug wires and platinum tip plugs. The Transmission was a 350 TH and was rebuilt using a new pump and a shift kit. The car itself was a Metallic red with white leather interior... It had 289 50 series tyres in the front and 315 60 series tyres at the rear, all on the original aluminium pontiac rims. The body itself was ALL ORIGINAL (No body filler)... AND (I'm bragging a little here) The very BEST 1982 Transam (body wise) in Trinidad!

Alas! After spending so much time, effort AND Money on this project, whatever happened to my HOT ride? Well, like everything in life, my priorities changed and I've opted for a more sedentary and modest lifestyle (at least for a while). YEP! I sold the car... BUT to someone equally deserving and competent in continuing her (Yes, it's a she) ever constant transformation! I have yet to see her since she was sold (BUT I hear stories, as from all great legends). I have no regrets to date (except I would have liked to have finished my masterpiece) and am continuing on my journey through life... SNIFF!

Anyway, on to other things!

I'll start where everything should start... What is the purpose of our existence? I recently received and read a very good book by Herbert W. Armstrong, who made certain predictions that I was privy to from the early age of thirteen... the gentleman claimed that he had no gift but got his information from the BIBLE! Yes, that's right! THE BIBLE! I have lived long enough to see the destruction of the berlin wall and the dissolution of the USSR! (Just two of his predictions)... Also, his prediction of the rise of a new european superpower that will rival the United States in magnitude and even surpass it, also seems to be coming true. The book is called The Mystery of the ages... Today, this book, along with OTHER good books with SPECIFIC reference to world events are chronicled and can be obtained FREE OF CHARGE! without ANY form of solicitation whatsoever from Mr. Gerald Flurry at his website and also from Dr. Roderick C. Meredith and Mr. Richard Ames from a similar, albeit distinctly different website (Two disciples of the same Master that went separate ways?).

I encourage anyone to request their FREE literature and start on the path of ultimate knowledge.

As I said earlier, my interest in programming represents artistic expression using algorithms... I've written TWO full programs (that I will make available for download soon) using Borland's Turbo Pascal Version 7.0. The compiler for computer code, examples of codes for games... Unit files to create sound or play music etc., can be found here. It's a good site for beginners. The site also helps with programming in C++ and other languages. Check it out if you like that sort of thing!

Or Check out the sites below...

One of the best books I've ever read growing up is Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach. Recently, I went into a book store and decided to purchase it, only to find that it was a whopping $80.00 TT. The book is great but I thought the price was too high. My search on the web found a FREE posting of the book. Although it was NOT in a downloadable format, I highlighted the entire text (I assume you know how to do this) in Windows Explorer. Selected Copy and pasted it into a Microsoft Word document! And voila! I can read it over and over again! The book is insightful and well thought out. I admire it's simplicity and complexity... It brings forward essential concepts, and encourages you to think, without being forceful. Have a read! It's definitely worth the effort!

Dedicated to You, whom I love as infinitely and as limitlessly as the spirit in this book. To the real Jonathan Seagull, who lives within us all - Richard Bach.

The picture at the beginning of this page is by an artist called Boris Vallejo... One of the very best fantasy artists I've ever seen... If you're into Rock and Roll, he did the painting used on the cover of Ozzy Ozbourne's album "The ultimate sin". I've airbrushed this picture on two cars, one Maxi Taxi and a sweater(Way back in the days when I did that sort of thing). Anyway, here's a good link to a site that showcases a lot (if not all) of his paintings. It's posted by a chap called Eugene Tkachenko.

I had a third generation Transam. A good site I've found for body parts, upholstery, gauges etc., is Third generation resources . Check them out! Year One also has parts for the pontiac i.e., in the line of shocks, dashboards etc. and steele rubber has weather stripping and rubber seals for the T-top, doors etc., They also have a catalog that you can get FREE upon request!
