Those of you who attend the local Moots may be aware that our very own Jacq Dobson
is an official Pagan Hospital visitor for this area.
Some people using the local hospitals have been informed by staff
that there is no such thing, however, this is incorrect.
Hopefully this should not be an issue in the future,
but the details are provided here as reference.
Jacq can be reached at:
[email protected]
for further info, or speak to her at one of the gatherings.
She is also happy to offer her many years of experience in the following services to the local community:
Handfastings
Handpartings
Saining
Blessings
Funerals
(no charge other than expenses)
Jacq also works with the local prison service to provide advice and assistance regarding Pagan beliefs. She currently covers the prisons Dovegate, Uttoixeter. Foston Hall, Sudbury, Wakefield and Doncaster.

Jacq has also recently become part of SACRE in Derby
This essentially means that for schools in the area, Pagans now have a say in the contents of religious education.
It should be noted that we do not plan to force-feed our beliefs to anyone, simply to correct any out of date or negative information.
This has been a long time coming, and many thanks to Jacq for her tireless work!
Quoted from the SACRE web site:
"12th February, 2008: Derbyshire Pagans join the SACRE Following a presentation by Jacq Dobson of Derbyshire Pagans the SACRE voted unanimously to coopt Jacq onto the SACRE.
Paganism is the oldest of all belief systems, pre-dating all modern religions, and is the seventh largest religious group in England. The presentation made it very clear that the beliefs of todays' Pagans are a long way from the fiction of childhood stories - and a long way for the ideas still commonly held by many adults. Pagans do not dance around naked at midnight, nor are they Satan-worshippers. Jacq pointed out that the concept of a dark force, the Devil or Satan, originated from other religions, such as Christianity, not from Paganism itself. Their beliefs are firmly based on the relationship between humans and the world in which we live.
The SACRE was disturbed to hear Jacq's account of how some children from Pagan families in Derby had been mocked by their teachers when their beliefs became known. In one case the child was told that Pagan views were "nonsense" while in another the child was told that Pagan views were "evil".
It is hoped that the revised Agreed Syllabus for RE will include reference to Pagan beliefs so that pupils are aware that, like the beliefs of other religions, they are very important in the lives of many people."

Pagan Oath
If you need to swear an oath in court, there is an official Pagan oath. Please see below for the text. The court staff should be able to provide a copy, or you can just print it off and take one along!
Pagan Oath:
I swear by all that I hold sacred
that the evidence I shall give
shall be the truth,
the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Pagan Affidavit:
I swear by all that I hold sacred
that this is my name and handwriting
and the contents of this,
my affidavit are true.
