DP 3rd Summer Camp

We only made it for the Saturday, if anyone has anything they'd like to send about the rest of the weekend (if you can remember!) please see the email at the end of the article!

Saturday 5th August

Well, early-ish mornings and a long drive there aside, we made it to the camp and set up the good old Tarot table - random bits of black velvet do make your table feel very professional...
A big hello to everyone we met and the regulars who always make it a great day.

The weather was grey and overcast, though the rain held off. The atmosphere was friendly and the drinks flowed freely - though the queues for the toilet facilities were heading out of the local pub and down the road at some points of the day!

The flute workshop was very popular and strains of music could be heard all over the camp following the make-one-and-play-it session.
(article about this in the Magazine, see Links page)

Later in the day, the main ritual was held, started by a musical snake of people twisting around the site, then into a large circle for the ritual proper. An inspiring sight, young and old alike taking part in the seasonal celebrations!

(Pictures to come!)

Into the evening and the raffle was held - well done you lucky prize winners and thank you to everyone who took part in the fund raising for Jacq's chosen charity!

Then the traditional drumming round the fire, with assorted other string and self-made flute instruments and a lot of laughter - isn't that the best way to be? Not sure that trying to tighten the drums by holding them over the fire was the best course of action for people who'd had a lot of the grape and grain, but for comedy effect, you can't beat it! The darkness fell, and the mist surrounded us, a chilly night for those camping, but warm hearts all round!

When we could find the fire, of course!!

Credit to everyone for being on their best behaviour, even with some local nuts on the prowl.
Fun with banishing, perchance...?

We all thank Jacq & Geoff for their continued hard work and organisational skills and see you next time!
