| No.1 The rout began in 9 minutes with a long throw from Erich Schaedler on the left. The Hearts defence were busy watching Alan Gordon and the ball bounced to Jimmy O'Rourke who left-footed a shot high into the net |
| No.2 A superb pass from Alex Edwards gave Alan Gordon the second goal in sixteen minutes. The centre forward slipped as he chested the ball down but regained his balance to poke a right footer past Garland. |
| No.3 Arthur Duncan made it three with a trundling shot in 26 minutes with a trundling shot after Cropley had nodded a Clunie clearence into the winger's path. |
| No.4 As a contest it was all over, but Hibs made it an exhibition with their precision football. Anderson stretched for a Duncan centre in thirty five minutes and Alex Cropley volleyed a glorious left-footer past Garland from more than twenty yards. |
| No.5 Two minutes later a Cropley cross and an Arthur Duncan header gave Hibs no.5, and it also doubled as their fiftieth league goal that season. |
