The mastering process is currently done as follows :

Mastered using a Sony CD player and Sharp MD deck onto a Maxell MD, via gold plated analogue plugs.  This is then copyied via analogue cables back to the Sony Hi-Fi for tape copies, and then via a digital lead to a JVC portable MD for the the MD copies. Satisfied now? Suffice to say, that from 13 you had quite good quality and from 14 you've got spot on quality.

Tapes 1-12 are designed for 90 minute audio tapes, except 4a which is only 42 minutes long, and 7 whcih was done on a 120 minute tape. 12a upwards are designed for digital media.
