"Creating a Learning-Centered Culture" in collaboration with Madisonville CTC District, Owensboro CTC District, Hopkinsville CTC District, and the West KY CTC District.

Their objectives are: (as submitted by Henderson CC)

"The objective of this project is to pilot a process which facilitates the achievement of participatory strategic planning with the goal of creating a learner centered culture. Our goal is to involve key persons from KCTCS including persons directly involved in professional development from the system and at colleges in the Western Kentucky area, so that critical steps of the process can be modeled and implemented elsewhere. Through this collaboration with other colleges, future professional development activities, targeted toward building our institutions' learning cultures can be shared on a regional basis.

The project objectives are:
Objective 1: Generate a broad but integrated spectrum of potential strategies for creating a learner centered environment at the colleges of Western Kentucky with Henderson Community College as the lead college..
Objective 2: Systematically analyze the critical strategies based upon evaluation of their strategic impact potential.
Objective 3: Define the relative strength or weakness of each strategy in terms of the college's current capability in order to identify priority attention as well as long term strategic planning. All KCTCS college districts in Western Kentucky will be involved in the assessment of the project and in application of the processes to their own college.
Objective 4: Collaborate with other colleges in the Western Kentucky region, via the professional development function of those colleges (which will be invited to participate in activities of this project throughout the year) to explore mechanisms for extending this process to other campuses.

The methods for achieving these objectives will include a Focus Group activity and a comprehensive professional development day for all HCC faculty and staff and representatives of the Western Kentucky college districts, facilitated by consultants of the Bob Pike Group. Following this our local Professional Development Program will facilitate ongoing workgroups and implementation activities and will work with professional development representatives at other colleges of the Western Kentucky region to facilitate modeling of this process at other institutions."
