Billy Costigan held in beatings
Local mobster arrested for assault
APRIL 1--Billy Costigan, the reputed Irish-American gangster, was charged today with the vicious attack of two men at The Violent Shamrock, a downtown Boston pub. According to the Suffolk District Attorney's office, Costigan broke one of his victim's jaws, fracturing his own hand in the process. Costigan was released tonight from the Suffolk County Jail after posting $25,000 bond. "The son-of-a-bitch called me a mook. I don't even know what that is," Costigan (pictured below) complained to his booking officer.
