There will be a One hour discussion at beginning of the class free and open to any interested.
This class will allow you to make a finished, one-gallon batch (which is 5 standard wine 750 ml wine bottles). The plan is to use a recipe that will result in a drinkable product by this Christmas, assuming you start it in September. The class will be organized into a one hour lecture (with sampling) followed by a three hour lab. We will have access to a sink and hot water. So if you wish, you can start a batch during the class, and then take it home with you.
I will have novice equipment kits and ingredient kits for purchase at that time. The two kits can be purchased separately -- you can buy one or the other or both or neither. The class itself is free of charge, and no one is required to purchase a kit to participate. There will be hand-outs. Equipment kits must be pre-ordered by the 12th of September so that I know how many to bring. Payment in cash may be made at the time of the event.
The equipment kit will cost $18 and will include:
Ingredient kits:
This will make about 1 1/2 gallons of must which should yield a full gallon after the first racking.
Depending up on cost of honey, the ingredients will run $18 to $20. Feel free to bring your own ingredients to the class if you wish.
For questions or to pre order equipment please contact the instructor at [email protected]

A 20 - 30 minute discussion on why you would want to make a cloak, how to determine the best fabric for the style of cloak you are going to make and how to construct the cloaks using modern methods. There are 3 styles of cloaks 1/2 circle, 3/4 circle and full circle. After the discussion we will have space available to actually layout, cut and sew the circle cloak together so it is ready to hem on Monday evening.
Discussions will be held at 9:30, 1:00 and 3:00. There will be a break from 12 - 1 for lunch so we do not have food in the classroom, drinks will be ok as long as they have a secure top so they do not get spilled. Open labs will be starting at 10:00, 1:30, and 3:30 with a strong suggestion that if you want to actually make your cloak on site you attend the 9:30 or 1:00 discussions so you can have the most lab time.
You will need the following materials:
Any questions please send an email to the instructor at [email protected] and use the subject line "cloak class question" to ensure timely response.
An all-dayclass on women's Italian Renaissance costuming, focusing on the 1480 - 1540 time period. Theclass will begin withpatterning, and continue on to garb construction.
Materials needed: sewing kit, patterning material (about 2 yards) and material for a gamurra/camora (gown) and meniche (sleeves) and/or a camicia (chemise). 5 yards of fabric (on average) is needed for the gown and sleeves and the same amount for the camicia. The gown and sleeves require an additional 1-2 yards of lining material and 1-2 yards of interfacing material (medium canvas or medium to heavy linen is good for this). If the student would liketo see a finished (or mostly finished) product on that day,he/she shouldbring a sewing machine. The instructor will bring her sewing machine.
Class documentation (and the documentation for instructor's Kingdom A&S 2009 entry) is located online at: http://sites.google.com/site/suzannebooth/home/file-cabinet.
