Eds' first race he road a 1'01" 40K time trial on a Schwinn World Sport.  The next week he was on a team and the sponsors gave him his first racing biuke and a job.  He credits the older riders who mentored him and helped him upgrade to Category 2 before graduating from the Junior ranks.  Between 1998and 1999, Ed directed the RCRC Team which became one of the most successful teams in the Midwest with over forty team wins in that period of time.
