Dentman- Who Are you? Rob- My name Is Rob Dentman- What did you do in the band? Rob- I mostly hung out a lot and played shows. Dentman- How did you become a member? Why did you leave the band? Rob- I became a member when Pat Bolger and I decided to start a band after listening to Dischord's "1981: The Year in Singles" way too many times. Leaving the band was simply a matter of me deciding that western NY sucked and that I had to leave. Since the other guys in the band didn't want to come with me to Boston, for whatever reason, I had to leave the The Dents. Dentman- What was your favorite moment in the band? Rob- Probably the first practice we had with Pat Welch on drums. Everything just came together at that point. Another high point was definitely the first time we got a pit going at one of our shows. We started playing "The Old Routine" and the Hungerford folks (members of The End, mostly) just got everything going. It was a lot of fun. Dentman- how did you feel when the band broke up? Rob- I was a little disappointed, because I never got the chance to see them play live with the new guitarist. Plus we had about 10 songs that never got officially released. Dentman- Do you have any other bands? Rob- Not at the moment, no. Dentman- Do you think the dents will ever get back together? Rob- I don't think it's very likely that they'll ever get back together for good, but I've heard the guys talking about recording some of the newer songs and putting out another record. Dentman- Out of all the band members who was the biggest pain in the ass? Rob- Everyone was a pain in the ass in their own unique way, including myself I'm sure. Dentman- What was your favorite song? Rob- My favorite song was probably "Far Too Long", which was never released unfortunately. It was the last song that Pat wrote for the band while I was in it, and I think it was some of his best work. My favorite song to play live was definitely "One By One", because it's such an amazing feeling to play a song that you wrote yourself and have the crowd really respond to it. Plus it dealt with a topic that definitely needed to be addressed. Dentman- What do you want to tell all your fans out there? >> Rob- That I still have about 30 of our records left for sale that I can't seem to get rid of here in Boston, so e-mail me if you want some!
