Bloomington Jefferson dominated the play so much that the Jaguars held Shakopee to only two shots on goal. Academy Of Holy Angels played without senior forward John Haeg who suffered a broken collarbone in the quarterfinal game against Bloomington Kennedy. The first period was fairly even with Academy Of Holy Angels outshooting Edina 12-5. The Stars had several good scoring chances late in the period and took a 1-0 lead in the final minute when junior forward Tyler Smith tucked in a rebound at the right crease after a rush, at 16:42. The Hornets turned the game around and carried the play in the second period, outshooting the Stars 15-7. The game was decided during a three minute span near the end of the period carrying over into the third period. At 14:35, Michael Sit of Edina notched a goal that evened the contest, 1-1. At 15:47, sophomore defenseman Matt VanVoorhis of the Hornets picked up a tripping penalty. On the Academy Of Holy Angels power play, Sit scored a crucial shorthanded tally, at 16:15, that gave Edina a 2-1 edge and the momentum heading into the second period break. At the start of the third period, Academy Of Holy Angels was still on the power play; however, senior forward Marshall Everson registered a second shorthanded goal on the same power play, only 0:25 into the period, to give the Hornets a solid 3-1 advantage. The Hornets dominance continued in the second period as senior forward Marshall Everson of Edina scored from in front, at 2:43, and again, on a hard shot from the lower, right circle on a 5-on-3 power play at 4:00, that gave Edina an insurmountable 4-0 bulge. The Hornets outshot the Jaguars 25-11 in the first two periods; and, junior goalie John Ankeny of Edina added seven saves in the final period for the shutout.
