First Round: Faribault (13-12-1, #6 seed) shutout Austin (0-21-1, #11 seed) 14-0. Faribault netted seven goals in the second period. Junior goalie Wyatt Andreas of the Falcons had to make only four saves for the shutout. Faribault outshot Austin 59-4. For Faribault, junior forward Ryan Dwyer had 3 goals, 4 assists, senior forward Bailey Hullett had 3 goals, 1 assist and sophomore forward Sean Lipinski and junior forward Garrett Gulsvig each had 2 goals, 2 assists. Goalies: Faribault - Andreas, Austin - junior Aaron Dooley (first two periods) and junior Brady Klingfus (third period). LaCrescent (13-9-3, #7 seed) defeated Mankato East (4-21-0, #10 seed) 5-4. LaCrescent scored three times in the second period to surge into a 4-3 lead after two. Only :39 into the third period, junior forward Ryan Willaert of Mankato East tied the contest with a quick goal; however, at 4:11, junior forward Timon Schaffner of the Lancers scored on a power play to put LaCrescent back on top, 5-4. The Lancers held off Mankato East the rest of the way. Mankato East outshot LaCrescent 28-26. For LaCrescent, senior forward Ben Tornow had 1 goal, 1 assist and junior forward Erno Tiensuu and senior forward Andy Helland each had 2 assists. For Mankato East, senior forward Dan Billiar had 2 goals, 1 assist, Willaert had 1 goal, 2 assists, and junior forward Taylor Ries had 3 assists. Goalies: LaCrescent - senior Tim Johnson, Mankato East - freshman Lucas Weihe. Northfield (5-20-0, #8 seed) defeated Waseca (12-10-1, #9 seed) 5-4. The teams were tied 2-2 after two periods and 3-3 early in the third. Northfield tallied a pair of goals within 2:42, later in the final period, to make the difference. Junior forward Alex Pumper of the Raiders notched the go-ahead tally, at 11:11, and sophomore defenseman Jared Docken followed with a goal, at 13:53, that gave Northfield a 5-3 margin. Waseca scored in the final seconds, at 16:56, for the final outcome. Northfield outshot Waseca 24-18. For Northfield, Pumper had 2 goals, 1 assist and Docken had 2 goals. For Waseca, sophomore defenseman Carter Hansen had 2 goals and sophomore forward Blake Malecha had 1 goal, 1 assist. Goalies: Northfield - sophomore Nate Finger, Waseca - junior Sean Farley-Cowdin. Quarterfinals: Red Wing (19-7-0, #1 seed) shutout Northfield (5-21-0, #8 seed) 9-0. Red Wing burst out with five goals in the first period. Sophomore goalie Sam Amendolar of the Wingers needed only seven saves for the shutout. Red Wing outshot Northfield 33-7. For Red Wing, junior forward Pat Noesen had 3 goals, 2 assists, senior defenseman Bryan Mitchell had 2 goals, 3 assists, and senior forward Blake Schammel had 5 assists. Goalies: Red Wing - Amendolar, Northfield - sophomore Nate Finger. New Prague (18-8-0, #2 seed) defeated LaCrescent (13-10-3, #7 seed) 8-3. New Prague pumped in five goals in the first period. The Trojans outshot LaCrescent 52-19. For New Prague, senior forward Tyler Lapic had 2 goals, 3 assists, sophomore forward Darren Lapic had 3 goals, and senior forward Schyler Adams had 1 goal, 2 assists. For LaCrescent, senior forward Ben Tornow and junior forward Erno Tiensuu each had 1 goal, 1 assist. Goalies: New Prague - freshman Joe Morris, LaCrescent - senior Tim Johnson. Rochester Lourdes (18-7-0, #3 seed) defeated Faribault (13-13-1, #6 seed) 3-2 in overtime. Rochester Lourdes controlled the contest; however, junior goalie Wyatt Andreas of Faribault kept the Falcons in the game. The Eagles held a 1-0 advantage after one period; however, Faribault evened the game, 2-2, just before the end of the second period on a power play goal from junior forward Bo Putrah at 16:57. Rochester Lourdes outshot the Falcons 15-3 in the third period although neither team could break the deadlock. In overtime, senior forward Taylor Funk fired a long pass to senior forward Cole Peterson at the Faribault blue line. Peterson broke in alone and stuff the puck in, for the game-winner, at 7:50. Rochester Lourdes outshot Faribault 49-19. For Rochester Lourdes, Peterson had 2 goals and Funk had 2 assists. For Faribault, freshman defenseman Brandon Parker had 2 assists. Goalies: Rochester Lourdes - sophomore Nick Heimer, Faribault - Andreas. Albert Lea (18-8-0, #4 seed) shutout Mankato West (14-8-3, #5 seed) 3-0. Albert Lea dominated the game. The Tigers outshot Mankato West 23-5 in the first period, tallied two goals, and coasted from there. Junior goalie John Wrolson of Albert Lea notched the shutout. The Tigers outshot Mankato West 50-16. For Albert Lea, senior forward Jordan Prescher-Smerud had 1 goal, 1 assist. Goalies: Albert Lea - Wrolson, Mankato West - senior Adam Trautman. Semifinals: Red Wing (20-7-0, #1 seed) defeated Albert Lea (18-9-0, #4 seed) 5-3. Red Wing scored the first two goals of the game to lead 2-0 in the second period; however, Albert Lea notched a pair of tallies in the second period to even the score, 2-2, after two. The third period belonged to Red Wing. Senior forward Blake Schammel of the Wingers put Red Wing ahead for good, 3-2, with a goal at 3:22. Junior forward Pat Noesen of Red Wing added a tally, at 9:19, to give the Wingers a two-goal edge, 4-2. In the last minute of play, Albert Lea cut the lead to 4-3 with a goal from senior forward Tyler Prihoda, at 16:19; however, after the Tigers pulled their goalie, Schammel shot in an empty net goal, at 16:42, to complete the scoring. Red Wing outshot Albert Lea 32-20. For Red Wing, Schammel had 2 goals, 1 assist, junior forward Josh Mensing had 1 goal, 2 assists, and Noesen had 1 goal, 1 assist. For Albert Lea, Prihoda, junior forward Tyler Brackey, and sophomore forward Dillon Stolt each had 1 goal. Goalies: Red Wing - sophomore Sam Amendolar, Albert Lea - junior John Wrolson. Rochester Lourdes (19-7-0, #3 seed) shutout New Prague (18-9-0, #2 seed) 4-0. The first two periods were very even with Rochester Lourdes holding a 1-0 edge after two by virtue of a goal from senior forward Phil Bray, at 12:46 of the second period. The Eagles pulled away from New Prague in the third period, outshooting the Trojans 13-5. At 6:19, senior forward Tyler Voigt of Rochester Lourdes tallied to extend the Eagles cushion to 2-0. New Prague picked up four penalties in the last six minutes of the game leaving Rochester Lourdes on the power play for most of the remainder of the contest. The Eagles added two late goals while sophomore goalie Nick Heimer registered the shutout. Rochester Lourdes outshot New Prague 25-19. For Rochester Lourdes, Voigt and Bray each had 1 goal, 1 assist. Goalies: Rochester Lourdes - Heimer, New Prague - freshman Joe Morris. Final: Rochester Lourdes (20-7-0, #3 seed) defeated Red Wing (20-8-0, #1 seed) 3-2. Senior forward Blake Schammel of Red Wing got the Wingers on the scoreboard first, at 7:58 of the first period; however, Rochester Lourdes used three straight goals to make the difference. The Eagles got tallies from senior forwards Taylor Funk and Cole Peterson in the first period to take a 2-1 edge after one. Senior forward Tyler Voigt or Rochester Lourdes notched a goal just before the end of the second period, at 16:55, to boost the Eagles to a 3-1 advantage. Red Wing tried to come back in the third period, outshooting Rochester Lourdes 11-7. Senior defenseman Matt Fairbanks of the Wingers garnered a goal midway through the period, at 7:33, that cut the lead to 3-2; but, sophomore goalie Nick Heimer of the Eagles turned in a solid performance and held Red Wing the rest of the way. Red Wing outshot Rochester Lourdes 26-19. For Rochester Lourdes, Peterson had 1 goal, 2 assists and Voigt and Funk each had 1 goal, 1 assist.
