Points are a factor in the overall rankings but not the most important factor. Minnesota Select teams and AAA Elite Hockey teams development are also considered. The rest of the players are ranked on their strengths, points, and plus/minus stats. Goalies are ranked in the areas of: goals against average, save percentage, skating ability, save technique (glove hand, blocker, and skates), controlling rebounds, playing the puck, communication with defensemen, athletic ability, coachability, and body language in the net.
