| 03/03/2009 2009 Section Finals Section 1AA Lakeville North (9-18-0, #2 seed) vs Rochester Century (14-11-2, #4 seed) Lakeville North won regular season game 4-3 in early December at Rochester. The Final is at the Rochester Olmsted Rec Center. Section 2AA Bloomington Jefferson (26-1-0, #1 seed) vs Edina (23-4-0, #2 seed) This could be for the State championship, March 5 at Mariucci. The teams did not play each other during the regular season. Edina is the defending Section champion. Section 3AA Cretin-Derham Hall (19-7-1, #2 seed) vs Apple Valley (14-12-1, #4 seed) These teams did not meet during the regular season. Cretin-Derham Hall finished second in the Suburban East conference. Apple Valley was sixth in the Lake Conference. The Final is at the Coliseum. Section 4AA Hill-Murray (17-9-1, #2 seed) vs Stillwater (13-11-3, #5 seed) These two teams did not play each other during the regular season. Hill-Murray defeated White Bear Lake in the Section semifinal. Stillwater defeated White Bear Lake, 2-1 in overtime, at Aldrich, on Jan. 3, and the Ponies tied the Bears, 4-4, at home, on Feb. 5. The Final is at the Coliseum. Hill-Murray is the defending Section champion. Section 5AA Blaine (23-3-1, #1 seed) vs Centennial (19-4-4, #3 seed) Centennial defeated Blaine 3-2, at Blaine, on Feb. 14 and tied the Bengals 4-4, at home, on Jan. 17 in Northwest Suburban Conference play; however, Blaine finished first in the Conference and Centennial finished third. The Final is at the Coliseum. Blaine is the defending Section champion. Section 6AA Eden Prairie (24-3-0, #1 seed) vs Minnetonka (20-7-0, #2 seed) Eden Prairie won the egular season game, at home, 4-2 on Dec. 23. The teams have played some similar opponents. Eden Prairie lost two one-goal games to Edina. Minnetonka split with Edina. The Final is at Mariucci. Section 7AA Duluth East (23-3-1, #1 seed) vs Elk River/Zimmerman (17-9-1, #2 seed) Duluth East was victorious in the regular season meeting, 5-3, at the DECC. The Final is at the DECC. Section 8AA Moorhead (14-9-3, #1 seed) vs Roseau (15-9-3, #2 seed) Moorhead shutout Roseau, at home, 5-0 in December, and defeated the Rams, at Roseau, 4-3 in overtime, on Jan. 27. Senior forward Nick Oliver of Roseau did not play in either of those games. The Final is at Thief River Falls. Roseau is the defending Section champion. Section 1A Red Wing (20-7-0, #1 seed) vs Rochester Lourdes (19-7-0, #3 seed) Rochester Lourdes edged Red Wing 3-1, at Red Wing, in early December. The Final is at the Rochester Olmsted Rec Center. Section 2A Breck (23-3-1, #1 seed) vs Mound-Westonka (17-10-0, #3 seed) The teams did not meet during the regular season. Breck finished first in the Tri-Metro Conference while Mount-Westonka finished third in the Wright County Conference. The Final is at Parade Ice Gardens. Section 3A New Ulm (22-4-1, #1 seed) vs Hutchinson (18-7-1, #2 seed) Hutchinson defeated New Ulm, 4-1, in the first game of the season for both teams at the New Ulm Civic Center. Hutchinson was undefeated through their first ten games. The Final is at Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter. Section 4A St. Thomas Academy (21-4-2, #1 seed) vs Mahtomedi (19-6-2, #3 seed) St. Thomas Academy defeated Mahtomedi, 8-5 eng, at home on Jan. 22, and tied the Zephyrs, 4-4, at Mahtomedi on Feb. 20. The Final is at Aldrich Arena. Section 5A St. Cloud Cathedral (24-2-1, #1 seed) vs Hermantown (24-3-0, #2 seed) St. Cloud Cathedral downed Hermantown, 2-1, at St. Cloud, on Jan. 26. St. Cloud Cathedral is the defending Section champion. The Final is at the CARC. Section 6A Little Falls (27-0-0, #1 seed) vs Alexandria (22-4-1, #2 seed) Little Falls nipped Alexandria twice during Central Lakes Conference play, 4-3 in Little Falls on Dec. 12 and 1-0 at Alexandria on Jan. 22. Little Falls is the defending Section champion. The Final is at the St. Cloud MAC. Section 7A Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl (22-5-0, #1 seed) vs Hibbing/Chisholm (16-9-1, #2 seed) Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl and Hibbing/Chisholm split during Iron Range conference action. Both won on their home ice. Hibbing/Chisholm 4-2 on Jan. 17 and Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl 7-1 on Feb. 17. The Final is at the DECC. Section 8A Warroad (25-2-0, #1 seed) vs Thief River Falls (21-4-2, #2 seed) Warroad won both meetings during the regular season, 3-1 at Thief River Falls and 5-1 at home. The Final is at Warroad.
