Minot still led 1-0 late in the third period, after a power play expired at 13:08; however, at 13:20, junior defenseman David Rankin of West Fargo threw a centering pass that was deflected into the net by Minot goalie Marty Jackson to tie the game 1-1. In overtime, Tyler Dockter of West Fargo centered a pass from behind the net that deflected in off the shin pad of a Minot skater to give the Packers the victory at 3:17. Minot had 27 shots on goal.
