Duxbury (18-6-0, #8 seed) defeated Waltham (16-5-3, #5 seed) 2-1. Bracket 2 Boston College High (20-2-1, #2 seed) defeated Arlington Catholic (18-5-0, #3 seed) 4-2. Belmont (17-4-2, #7 seed) defeated St. John's Prep (13-10-0, #6 seed) 5-3. Semifinals: 03/11/2004 Catholic Memorial (21-2-0, #1 seed) defeated Arlington Catholic (18-6-0, #3 seed) 5-2. The teams were tied 2-2 midway through the contest; however, Catholic Memorial netted a shorthanded goal in the second period to take a 3-2 lead and added a pair of goals later in the period to lead 5-2 after two. The Knights shut down Arlington Catholic in the third period. For Catholic Memorial - senior forward Cory Quirk had 2 goals. Final: 03/13/2004 Catholic Memorial and Boston College High were in the Final for the sixth year in a row. Catholic Memorial won last year (2003), Boston College won in 2002, and Catholic Memorial won the previous four years (1998-2001). Catholic Memorial (22-2-0, #1 seed) defeated Boston College High (21-3-1, #2 seed) 3-1. Catholic Memorial won their second Division 1A championship in a row, the sixth in the last seven years, and the eleventh in the past 14 years. Catholic Memorial scored the only goal of the first period, from freshman Brian Rosata on a rebound, at 8:16. In the second period, senior forward Steve Smolinsky of Boston College High made a great move, on a rush, putting the puck through the legs of a Catholic Memorial defenseman, then sliding a shot through the goalie's legs to tie the game, 1-1, at 2:41. At 5:42, sophomore Matt Masucci of the Knights redirected a centering pass, from the right wing boards, into the net to give Catholic Memorial a 2-1 lead. The Knights outshot the Eagles 25-10 over the first two periods. In the third period, senior forward Cory Quirk of Catholic Memorial scored on a high slap shot from a sharp angle to give the Knights a two-goal margin. Catholic Memorial outshot Boston College High 31-16. For Catholic Memorial, Rosata, Masucci, and Quirk each had 1 goal. For Boston College High, Smolinsky had 1 goal.
