Albert Lea 5 Rochester Mayo 2

This game featured alot of offensive chances; and, Albert Lea jumped out to a 3-0 advantage after one period.  Rochester Mayo came back with the first goal of the second period; however, senior forward Jordan Prescher-Smerud of Albert Lea scored at 13:49 of the second period and again at 4:53 of the third period to extend the Tigers lead to 5-1.

Senior forward Ben Hanowski of Little Falls pulled with one point of career points scoring leader Johnny Pohl, 378-377, with six points against Willmar.  Hanowski needs two points to break the all-time mark.  The Flyers led 5-1 after one period.

The teams exchanged goals in the first period; but, Red Wing took control with back-to-back tallies, :13 apart, in the second period.  The momentum swung when sophomore goalie Sam Amendolar of the Wingers made a big save on a New Prague flurry in front of the net.  Moments later, at 13:04, senoir forward Blake Schammel of the Wingers notched a goal after a faceoff in the Trojan end; and, junior forward Pat Noesen followed with a tally, at 13:17.  In a close third period, senior forward Tyler Lapic of New Prague scored, at 3:32, to close the gap to 3-2; however, the Trojans could not come up with the tying goal.

For Red Wing, Schammel had 2 goals, 3 assists, Noesen had 1 goal, 1 assist, and junior forward Josh Mensing had 2 assists.

This was a penalty filled game with 16 infractions whistled against International Falls and 11 against Roseau including six roughing penalties, three on each team, during a skirmish in the third period.  The Rams pulled in front 3-1 after one period and maintained a 5-3 edge after two.

For Roseau, sophomore forward Shane Omdahl had 1 goal, 5 assists and junior forward Adam Knochenmus had 2 goals, 2 assists.

Brainerd led 2-1 after two periods; however, Sartell-St. Stephen dominated the third period, outshooting the Warriors 16-2.  Junior forward Austin Plaine of the Sabres tied the game, 2-2, at 9:10, sophomore forward Matt Husmann got the go-ahead goal, at 12:40, and sophomore forward Andrew Deters tack on an empty netter, at 16:49.

For Sartell-St. Stephen, Husmann and junior forward Matt Nahan each had 1 goal, 1 assist.
For Brainerd, sophomore Josh Archibald had 2 goals.

St. Thomas Academy 5 South St. Paul 0

St. Thomas Academy carried the play and led 2-0 after one period.  The Cadets tacked on three goals in the final period while junior goalie Kurt Altrichter completed the shutout.

Thief River Falls carried the play throughout; however, East Grand Forks deadlocked the contest,
2-2, on a goal from senior forward Macauley Useldinger at 0:46 of the third period.  Only :23 into overtime, senior forward Kent Peterson of the Prowlers notched the game-winner.

There was no scoring in the first period; and, Hibbing/Chisholm got on the board first with a power play goal midway through the second period; however, after that, Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl broke loose for seven goals in the last half of the game.  The Blue Devils tallied three times in the remainder of the second period and added four goals in the third.
