Coach Roy Nystrom of Albert Lea recorded his 600th victory, the fourth coach in boys high school hockey history to record 600 wins.  The winningest coach of all-time is Bill Belisle, of Woonsocket Mt. St. Charles Academy in Rhode Island with 806 career wins, followed by Edward Burns, of Arlington, Mass. with 695 career wins, and Willard Ikola, of Edina High School with 616, according to the National Federation of State High School Associations record book.  Nystrom is in his 36th year as head coach of the Tigers.

Junior forward Joey Benik of St. Francis tied the record for goals in the regular season with his 62nd goal of the season at 8:30 of the third period.  Jared Festler, a junior at Little Falls in 2007, set the record of 62.

Burnsville dominated the first two periods and led 3-1 after two; however, Eastview came back strong in the third period and knotted the contest with two tallies early in the period.  Burnsville outshot Eastview 6-5 in overtime.

Eden Prairie jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with two goals early in the first period.  Junior forward Mitch Rogge one-timed a shot from the slot, at 0:58; and, at 2:21, sophomore forward Kyle Rau deflected in a shot from the point.  In the second period, the Eagles took a commanding 3-0 advantage when Rogge tallied on a breakaway, at 7:28.  At 10:17, senior defenseman Tim LaBombard of Bloomington Jefferson fired in a high wrister; however, senior forward Jordan Hoffman of Eden Prairie made it a 4-1 game with a rebound at 11:55.  The teams exchanged goals in the final period.

Junior forward Dan Billiar of Mankato East netted seven goals in the contest.  Billiar scored twice in the first period, three times in the second, and finished with two tallies in the third period, at 5:10 and 15:35.  Billiar notched two power play goals and one shorthanded marker.

Orono scored a goal in each of the final two periods of a close game.  Senior goalie John Gabos of the Spartans recorded the shutout.

Bemidji scored the lone goal of the second period to lead 1-0 after two; however, Thief River Falls came back with three tallies in the third period to make the difference.

Grand Forks Central led 1-0 after one period and added four goals in the second period for a 5-1 bulge after two; however, Warroad stormed back with five talies in the third period for an amazing come-from-behind victory.  In the third period, senior forward Dane Shaugabay of the Warriors notched a power play goal, at 2:00; and junior forward Brett Hebel scored at 8:31 to cut the margin to 5-3.  Warroad would then tally three goals in a flurry of 1:06 to claim the lead.  Junior forward Brock Nelson logged back-to-back goals :38 apart, at 12:01 and 12:39.  Seconds afterward, Grand Forks Central picked up a penalty; and, Hebel fired in a power play tally, at 13:07, to give Warroad a 6-5 advantage.
