Academy of Holy Angels took a 2-0 lead in the first period and held that edge until the third period.  Elk River/Zimmerman tried to come back in the final period and pulled to within 3-2, at 13:19.  The Elks pulled their goalie before the final minute; however, junior forward Connor Reilly of the Stars found the open net.

There was no scoring in the first period; however, the second period was all St. Cloud Cathedral.  The Crusaders outshot Hermantown 18-2 in the period, aided by three penalties on the Hawks, but logged only one goal, from junior forward Robbie Stocker, at 3:30.  The third period was even and close with an exciting finish.  The Crusaders got a two-goal cushion when junior forward Alex Koopmeiners tallied at 7:11.  Senior forward Grant Huttel of Hermantown cut the lead with a marker on a 2-on-1 break, at 12:11.  At 15:40, St. Cloud Cathedral picked up a tripping penalty.  Hermantown pulled their goalie to attack 6-on-4.  :38 later, at 16:18, the Crusaders were whistled for a slashing penalty giving the Hawks a 6-on-3 advantage for the final :42; however, Hermantown was unable to come up with the tying goal.
