Forest Lake 4 Woodbury 3 5-9-2 14-2-2 Woodbury has been unable to solve senior goaltender Paul Moberg of Forest Lake. Last weekend, Forest Lake, the last place team in the Suburban East Conference, tied Woodbury, the first place team in the Suburban East Conference. This time, Moberg shut down the Royals enough to claim the victory at Forest Lake. The Rangers led 3-2 after two periods and scored on a power play just :15 into the third period on what would be their only shot on goal of the period. The Royals outshot Forest Lake 23-1 in the third and closed the gap with a tally at 4:51; but, Woodbury could not come up with the tying goal in the remainder of the period. Woodbury outshot Forest Lake 48-19. For Forest Lake, senior forward Kyle Jensen had 1 goal, 1 assist. For Woodbury, junior forward Max Gaede had 2 goals. Hopkins 4 Edina 3 OT 11-5-1 15-2-0 Edina dominated the game; however, Hopkins got a stellar game from junior goalie Alex Fons and some timely goals. Edina outshot the Royals 19-7 in the first period; but, Hopkins came out with a 2-0 advantage. In the second period, the Hornets continued to control the game and sandwiched two goals around a tally from freshman forward Travis Boyd of Hopkins to make it a 3-2 contest after two. The third period was more even; and, Edina notched the tying goal from junior forward Joey Harrington, at 6:45. In overtime, the Hornets forced the play; however, senior forward Ryan Colvin of Hopkins scored the game-winner on their first shot of overtime, at 4:20. Edina outshot Hopkins 59-27. For Hopkins, Colvin and senior forward Johnnie Hicks had 1 goal, 1 assist and junior forward Archie Skalbeck had 2 assists. Moorhead 5 Warroad 4 OT 7-8-1 15-2-0 Moorhead scored four straight goals over the first and second periods, including a pure hat trick from senior forward Alex Altenbernd, to lead 4-2 after two. Warroad came back to control the final period, outshooting the Spuds 16-5, and notching two early tallies to knot the contest, 4-4, at 6:09; but, the Warriors could not come up with the winning goal in regulation. In overtime, senior forward Jordan Doschadis scored on the first shot on net for the deciding goal at 1:15. Shots were even 29-29. For Moorhead, senior forward Trent Johnson had 1 goal, 3 assists and Altenbernd had 3 goals. For Warrod, senior forward Micky Knox and junior forward Brett Hebel each had 1 goal, 1 assist. Goalies: Moorhead - freshman Michael Bitzer, Warroad - senior Jason Goldsmith. Osseo 5 Andover 4 OT 7-7-0 8-7-1 Osseo held a comfortable 4-2 lead heading into the final minute of regulation. At 16:42, senior forward Bill Hupp of Andover scored to make it a 4-3 game; and, at 16:59, senior defenseman Aaron Wiczek of the Huskies notched a goal to send the contest to overtime. In overtime, Osseo dominated, outshooting Andover 5-0; and, the Orioles prevailed when sophomore forward Tim Bonner tallied the game-winner, at 6:40. Osseo outshot Andover 33-32. For Osseo, senior forward Kevin Kray had 3 goals and Bonner had 1 goal, 2 assists. In the third period, Richfield and Mahtomedi exchanged goals with Richfield always holding the lead. Finally, at 13:09, senior forward Bryan Scanlon of the Spartans tallied a goal that put Richfield ahead for good, 5-4. Mahtomedi outshot Richfield 33-29. Tartan responded by taking the better of the play in the second period, outshooting the Cadets 12-5; however, the Titans could not score. The third period was even with St. Thomas Academy clinging to their 1-0 margin. Tartan pulled their goalie in the final minute; but, the Cadets tallied an empty net goal.
