Mahtomedi held a 2-1 lead after one period; but St. Thomas Academy came back with two talllies to  claim a 3-2 edge after two.  The Cadets surged to a 5-2 advantage on back-to-back shorthanded goals, :18 apart early in the third period, from junior forward Christian Isackson and sophomore forward AJ Reid.  Mahtomedi responded with a pair of tallies to pull within 5-4, at 5:17.  The teams exchanged goals around the 8:00 mark; however, junior forward Justin Crandall of the Cadets logged a tally, at 9:29, to give St. Thomas a 7-5 lead.  The Zephyrs pulled their goalie in the final minute; but, Reid was able to tack on an empty net goal.
