Schwan Cup - Silver Division Final Wayzata 2 Benilde-St. Margaret's 0 7-3-1 The game was even with no scoring and no penalties through two periods. Late in the third period, Wayzata broke through the game's first goal, from senior forward Kevin Blackley, at 11:14. A couple minutes later, Benilde-St. Margaret's was whistled for their first penalty of the game; and the Trojans cashed in. Senior forward Billy Soule of Wayzata scored with the man-advantage, at 14:05; and, the Trojans had a 2-0 edge. Senior goalie Ty Simcoe of Wayzata closed down the Red Knights for the shutout. Wayzata Boys Hockey Team Wins Schwan�s Cup Silver Division Summary: The Wayzata High School boys varsity hockey team defeated two top 10 ranked teams on its way to winning the silver division of the annual Schwan�s Cup holiday tournament last week. The Trojans (7-3-1) soundly defeated Brainerd/Pillager/Pierz 7-1 in the opening round and then beat Breck 5-4 in overtime before shutting out Benilde-St. Margarets 2-0 in the Silver Division championship. Before the tournament, Let�s Play Hockey ranked Breck 8th in Class A hockey and Benilde 11th in Class AA hockey. |
