IMPLEMENTATION OF PRS `92 UNDER NAMRIA FUND

Under PRS ’92 funded by NAMRIA,  there were 399 monuments established in the provinces of Aklan, Capiz and Iloilo making an accomplishment of 102%  during the year.  This is to replace the old geodetic reference system of all surveys and maps in the country using Geographic Positioning System (GPS) in order to solve the overlapping of boundaries and land disputes/conflicts and likewise to fast track the delineation of Forest and A and D lands in the region.

Likewise, the integration of other ENR data sets was also given priority by the office.  Accomplishments under this activity include: re-plotted  1,340 corners through digital conversion, conducted ground survey and gathered secondary data for reference composed of 36 lots covering 2,372.50 hectares and survey of 822 hectares of existing mangrove area  in the province of Guimaras.

In line with the IEC activities, the following orientations were conducted for the year:

§         Orientation on PRS ’92 on June 13, 2007 at RACSOS, Guimbal, Iloilo attended by Information Officers and some FNSP personnel.

§         Orientation on How to  Conduct IEC on July 2, 2007 participated by PENROs/CENROs Information Officers, some LEP and FNSP personnel.

§         Likewise, the region reproduced 12 tarpaulins and translated 200 copies of IEC materials in local dialects and were distributed to local officials during the conduct of pulong-pulong on PRS ’92.

§         The IEC team also visited 79 municipalities covering 94 barangays in the province of Aklan and Iloilo to encourage and convince them to “Adopt a Mohon” through the forging of the Memorandum of Agreement for the protection of these monuments.

§         The region conducted a briefing for the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Adopt-a-Mohon Program on November 6, 2007.  This activity was participated  by PENRO Information Officers and some region based personnel.  The terms and conditions stipulated in the MOA was discussed.  A total of ten (10) Memoranda of Agreement were signed by LGUs in the provinces of Antique and Iloilo.

§         Free one (1) hour radio program every month over Radyo ng Bayan, Iloilo.  The salient points of PRS ’92, Adopt-a-Mohon Program and the accomplishments in IEC campaigns were aired during this time slot.
