MY FIRST ESSAY ON
ERIC LARSEN
With my great teacher and musical father Eric Larsen, A MAN WHOM I OWE MY FREEDOM. Winston-Salem, NC, December 2002
With Claude Frank after the masterclass on Schumann's Kreisleriana, January 2003
SOME OF THE MAIN PRINCPLES OF LARSEN'S PIANO PLAYING

shape the phrase (especially in case when you play while being sick)

hold on to the piano (to the keys)

take the tempo when the music would sound clear

pick up your fingers (in passages)

use your imagination (in case of the dynamics)

dont' forget about releasing your hand  in time (lots of pianists do)

The sound should always have depth and volume

Never be afraid of thick sound!
