Moving before Sean can complete his incantation, you dart to the
side, knocking Shila over just as Sean's spell ends. Shila makes a
surprised exclamation as you collide with her, but seems otherwise
unaffected.
Sean looks disappointed. 'Now why did you have to do that? I'm
going to be forced to-'
Before Sean's thought can complete, Darwin yells 'Enough!' Drawing
himself up to his full height, he seems to tower over his brother.
'This has to end!' Raising his arms, he begins chanting. Black
waves of energy surround him as he starts walking toward Sean.
Shila witnesses this. 'No!' she yells to Darwin. 'Don't!' turning
to you, she explains. 'Don't you see? He's using the power of the
Onyx! It'll kill him!'
You climb to your feet, opening your mouth to
warn Darwin of the danger.
Sean screams incoherently and rushes into Darwin, breaking the
pattern of energy surrounding him. The energy reforms and seems
to intensify, growing more dense and collapsing into the both of them.
