Obern Temple
You awake with a start from a dream that fades from memory almost
instantly, leaving only an impression of foreboding. Quietly,
you make your way to the lobby of the temple, where Darwin is already
standing. He looks in your direction, and then looks back out the
window.
'I almost left when you two were asleep.' he says without much
emotion. 'I'm not sure what changed my mind.'
You move to the window, looking outward alongside Darwin.
'You're not going to be rid of us that easily, I'm afraid.' you say.
'We're going to see this through to the end.'
'I suppose it was dedication like that which made me decide not to
leave' Darwin reflects, appearing to have hardly heard what you
just said. He sighs loudly. 'As soon as your companion awakes,
we will be off.'
'I'm already awake!' Shila says, emerging from the library. 'I've
been waiting for the rest of you to be ready.' She taps her foot
idly. 'So, are we leaving, or what?'
Darwin seems to flinch away. 'Yes, we are. I have but one
question... what is that crystal?' he says, pointing to the familiar
crystal that Shila is holding.
Shila holds it up, being careful not to move it any closer to Darwin.
'This crystal is a talisman against the Onyx.' Shila says.
'It works excellently.' he comments. 'It pains me just to be near it.
It should have a much more debilitating effect when used in close
range against the Onyx. I just hope that we shall not encounter
any before we reach my brother.'
'Me too...' you agree, looking out the window.
You leave the temple...
