Obern Temple
You enter into the lobby, taking careful note of Darwin's disposition.
Darwin looks up at your entry, as though surprised. 'She lives...'
he says. 'Tomorrow, I will begin my journey to the Onyx tower, where
I will confront my brother and bring this to an end.' he looks toward
you. 'This is my fight, and it is up to me to undo what my brother
has done. However, I know that you, too, have a personal
interest in the outcome of this battle. Will you accompany me?'
You nod. 'Of course I am. I cannot allow innocents to suffer.'
Darwin turns to Shila. 'And you, m'lady?'
Shila smiles widely. 'Of course!' she glances toward you as she
says 'I'm the hero, after all.'
Darwin appears bouyed by your decisions. 'I thank you both.
I am going to retire now, as I have much planning to do.' he walks
down another corridor.
Shila and you stay in the lobby of the temple, looking out the window
at the few remaining flames. The clerics have done their job well,
you reflect. You glance over to Shila, who returns your glance
with a smile. After standing there for a few minutes, you turn toward
Shila. 'Well, I guess I should be going to bed...'
'Me too...'
There is a moment of silence as the two of you walk down the corridor
that Darwin followed until you run into Marie.
'Oh, there you are. You're just in time, your rooms are ready. This
way, please.' Without another word, she leads you a little
further down the hall. 'There you are. I'd stay and talk some more,
but with the fire, I have many things to do.' With that, she leaves as
abruptly as she had appeared. You open the door to your room,
preparing to move in.
'Spencer?' Shila's voice sounds from behind you.
'Yes?' you answer, turning around.
'Good night.'
You smile at her. 'Good night to you too....' Shila looks as though
she is about to say something else, but apparently changes her mind.
The door closes as she enters her room.
Moments later, you enter your own room and fall asleep.
