No bass here ..... ... or here ....

This page concerns the details of project citroen and its progrss.  More photos will be added as they arrive and I'll keep you posted on results of testing.

For the basics on Project Citroen and the reasons why we did it this way, click here.

Project Citroen is back on track!!  Chris the man has shelled out for the other 50M Rockford amp and we have now got more power than we can use.  A new baffle is being constructed for stronger mounting of subs and then we crank....

Stand back - I know what I'm doing...

This is the temporary location of the head unit until we get our podium made.  It is an older style Pioneer (what we had!) and shuttle.  It is low voltage, but has a usable built in parametric eq so we can play with our optimum frequency.

That's Chris doing the playing and I'm the headless one (standing well clear!)

Rockford DVC15" subs

Our unusual sub box.  The box is 3.5 cubic foot per sub, with a 2.5 by 3/4 inch port (hole!)  In this picture we have covered the ports to see what results could be achieved.  Our frequency changed by a couple of Hz, but over all volume was the same.  Once again the amps are reaching their peak.

Rocket powered?

This is our sole battery for the system.  The head unit runs of the car's battery and the amp is mounted on the side of this box.  Our power cable is about 4" long to the curcuit breaker (100amp), and then about 3" to the amp.  No worries with power flow here!  Another battery might be on the way for longer run times.

Bit different

The side view of the car showing the placment of the subs, battery and amp.  We are in the process of building wooden sides and roof to help seal the leaks we have.  We have quite a few bad ones and realize these are worth a db or so.

WHAT??!??!

This is Chris ... ah ...... 'testing' I think he called it.  At moderate volume he was looking for any leaks in the box.  But we didn't have any thanks to a lot of sealant and a few hundred screws.  The screws are placed about 2" apart on all sides of the box.

Empty...but  not for long
That's better

This is the blank canvas we started with.  Eventually the back doors will be welded up and the side windows replaced with steel.

Our weird ass shaped box.  Ports are covered for testing purposes.  With more power the ported box will rock harder.

The original
Lovely ports

The original 'test' box that we used to get readings of the car.  Note bracing.  Box actually sounded very good.  Probably due to way the standing waves are despersed.  Silly little slot like ports really worked.  This box was eventually cut down to be grafted on to the new one.

Pictures of the construction of the box and further testing are on the way.

Thanks to Mark and Lee at Monaco Corporation for the support and super deals! We could not have done this otherwise....
