| The VOICE of God! Radio talkshow hosts search for, find the "VOICE" of God! MILWAUKEE, WISC. Jay Weber and Bob Dolan host the highly popular "Weber and Dolan" morning radio show heard on News/Talk WISN 1130 AM. On-air Thursday October 24, 2002 and Friday October 25, the pair discussed the vocal skills of actor James Earl Jones, known for his vocal characterization of the baritone "Darth Vader" in the Star Wars movie series. Jones is now heard in numerous commercials and on cable television uttering such memorable lines as, "This is CNN". Weber and Dolan decided that having a similarly dramatic, distinct and admirable "voice of God" to use coming into and out of commercials would be an added attraction worthy of their program. The search for an appropriate voice turned out to be another fun and successful adventure for the two. As fate would have it, a listener who has been called "The VOICE of God" in the past had heard their hilarious antics while driving to work Thursday. That listener, Dennis J. O'Boyle of Milwaukee, a technical writer by trade, also does a fair amount of announcing in addition to his regular job. He recalled the time after a basketball game when the father of one of the players told him, "I was talking with my wife before the game. Suddenly, when you started announcing, I thought I was hearing the voice of God." So, on Friday morning when O'Boyle's alarm clock went off, he tuned in to WISN and was tickled to hear the talkshow hosts, again dwelling on finding someone with God's voice. Weber and Dolan were trying to imitate Jones, saying how nice it would be to have a voice like that for their show. O'Boyle called in and the rest, as they say, is history. |

| The phone was answered by Jason Booth, producer of the Weber and Dolan Show. O'Boyle simply said, "This is the voice of God!" and Booth was totally stunned, pausing for a moment to catch himself. "That is great!" He told O'Boyle, knowing that they had a winner. He coaxed O'Boyle into staying on the line. Weber on O'Boyle: ". . . better than people in the business!" While Weber and Dolan weeded out the wanna-bees, Booth checked back with O'Boyle frequently, hoping to retain his talent. As soon as the show's hosts heard O'Boyle, they erupted, "We've found our man!" Weber remarked excitedly. "THIS is the guy! This is the guy! We've found our voice!" "Whoa! That is fantastic!" Dolan chimed in, "This is definitely the guy!" After screening a few more callers, another potential voice was also found, Paul Remus of Waterford. O'Boyle and Remus were featured live on the show |
Monday October 28 between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. Each took turns reading lines in their best voices for subsequent use on the Weber and Dolan program. It was obvious that O'Boyle had the deeper, throatier sound of power that Weber and Dolan were looking for. After the two contestants read their lines, Remus conceded, smiling as he joined the talkshow hosts in declaring O'Boyle as "The Voice of God". Jay Weber remarked that O'Boyle is, ". . . better than people in the business!" Featured as part of the show these days is the "Voice of O'Boyle", making such dramatic statements as: "This is Weber and Dolan." "You're listening to Weber and Dolan on WISN 1130 AM." "Your morning is rolling with Weber and Dolan." "Weber and Dolan on News/Talk 1130, WISN, Milwaukee." Weber and Dolan are planning on using O'Boyle for more announcing in the near future and look forward to utilizing him on other projects as well. You can contact "The VOICE" by calling 414-380-3095 or e-mail at site: www.geocities.com/dennisoboyle/ |
