WGN Radio 720's Pat Hughes Wins "Sportscaster of the Year" Award
for the Sixth Time

CHICAGO, JANUARY 29, 2007 -- WGN Radio 720's Cubs Play-By-Play Announcer Pat Hughes has won the coveted 2006 "Sportscaster of the Year" award. This marks the sixth time in his career that Hughes earned this prestigious honor. The award is presented by colleagues in the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Associations and is given to one sportscaster and one sportswriter elected in the state of Illinois. In addition to his Cubs broadcast duties with partner/color commentator Ron Santo, Hughes is also the television voice for Marquette University Basketball.

During his time as Play-By-Play Announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers, Hughes received the "Sportscaster of the Year" award three times and won in Illinois in 1996 and 1999 as WGN Radio's voice of Cubs Baseball.

Hughes enters his 12th year with the Cubs and WGN. He teams with Ron Santo on the Cubs Radio Network. 2007 will be Pat's 25th season of broadcasting Major League Baseball. He will receive the award on the final weekend of April in Salisbury, North Carolina.
