Daily Procedures

Please follow these procedures as soon as you enter the classroom everyday:

1.    Get your folder from the file folder bin.

2.    Sit down at your seat.

3.    A warm-up exercise will be posted on the board everyday. Read the instructions and begin working on the warm-up quietly. Warm-up answer sheets are available on my desk. (One sheet has enough space for two weeks’ worth of warm-ups.)

4. During the first five minutes of class, I am the only person you can talk to. If you have a question for me, raise your hand.

I don’t like to waste class time, so the warm-up and five minutes of silence allow us to settle down and get started quickly. To that end, I have one simple rule for the start of class:

Every minute that you take to quiet down at the beginning of class is a minute that you owe me at the end of class. Remember this!

Keep in mind, I may not always enforce this rule. But if you want to get out of my class on time everyday, it is in your best interest to follow it. Just remember, if you ever see me take out a stopwatch at the beginning of class, you know that “you’re on the clock.”

Of course, if you are quiet from the start, I’ll never have to take out the stopwatch in the first place.
