About Me I grew up in Irvine, California, and since I was a child, I’ve always been interested in science. After high school, I went to UCLA for college, where I received a bachelors degree in biology. From there, I moved down to San Diego to attend graduate school at UCSD, where I received my doctorate in biology. Although my original goal was to pursue a career in biological research, I gradually came to realize that my passion lay in the teaching, rather than the doing, aspect of science. Thus, I ultimately decided to give up my career as a biologist and become a teacher instead. Since I have a Ph.D., my friends frequently ask me why I chose to teach high school instead of college. Well, my answer is that I want to share and spread my passion for science. From my experience, most college students have already decided what their interests are. Thus, if I teach science at the college level, most of my students will already be interested in science. On the other hand, every high school student has to take science of some sort, whether or not they think they are interested in it. Well, I want the chance to show these students that science can be exciting. As a result, if you, as my student, finish my class having learned something that you found interesting and want to learn more about, then I will have achieved my goal as your teacher! |
