| This web site is not meant to be commercial, however I felt it would be helpful have a page covering the accommodations on the Outer Banks. There are several ways to go with the where to stay question. Visitors to the islands can go the conventional route, as we do, and stay in a beach motel. There are many available at varying prices and ammenities. We always stay at one place, the Blue Heron Motel, at MP 15 1/2 on the beach road in Nags Head. This motel is not the fancy modern chain establishment, but rather a privately owned (Gladden family), spotlessly clean three story motel. Two outdoor and one indoor pool, with an indoor spa. All rooms face the ocean, with fantastic sunrise views. Highly recommend this place for families. Cleick here to go to the Blue Heron Motel (www.blueheronnc.com) web site. Another way to go, although we never have, is to rent one of the hundreds of vacation homes. These are mostly handled by local realty companies. Camping is also a possibility, with several private camp grounds, as well as camp grounds run by the Park Service.
