(4) HENRY3 ADAMS (Jesse2, Henry4) was born April 14, 1786 in NC. and died Aft. 1860 in Ballard, KY. He married (1) "C" [Catherine?] ADAMS-nee Abt. 1815 in Smith, TN [?]. She was born Abt. 1793 in NC. and died in Ballard, KY. Henry married (2) MICIE ADAMS Aft. 1850 in Ballard, KY [?]. Micie was born Abt. 1806 in VA. and died Aft. 1860 in Ballard, KY [?].
Notes for HENRY ADAMS: Henry's age and place of birth from the 1850C of Ballard Co., KY. On the 1820C only Smith Co., TN. had a Henry with a son of Briant's age. Henry was still in Smith County (with sons matching Briant & Henry Jr.) in 1830 and was enumerated exactly one (1) page after TORA PATTERSON ADAMS' ancestor GEORGE PATTERSON. Knowing the Pattersons settled on Salt Lick Creek near the KY line, we can conclude that Henry also was in the part of Smith Co. which later became Macon Co.
On the 1840C he was in Benton Co., TN (11111001-0020001) on the same page with YOUNG and GREEN ADAMS. He was taxed in Benton Co. 1836 and 1837 (Bryant, Young & Gillum taxed 1839-1842 so assume Bryant became householder of record). Benton Co. tax records after 1842 not examined but Henry shows up in Ballard Co., KY tax rolls in 1849 along with Bryant and Henry Jr. Gillam and S.H. show up on the 1850 tax records and also on the census. By 1860C Henry had remarried and had PATTERSON stepdaughters. From tax records it appears marriage to MICEE PATTERSON in 1855/6 (went from 1 minor child to 3). Tax recorder began using initials only in 1856 and difficulty distinguishing him from the Mayfield Creek Henry but know he was still alive in 1860. Due to his age probably no longer being taxed.
GenForum information corroborated most of the above but replacing tentative parent (Henry or Bryan?) with Jesse and Unicy.
Notes for C. [CATHERINE?] ADAMS - nee: "C" was shown with Henry on the 1850C but by 1860 he had remarried and his wife was shown as "MICEE" [?], who was a decade younger (too young to be the mother of Briant) and from a different state [VA]. Most Ballard County records were destroyed so nothing showing her first name or the remarriage. Smith County, TN records [where they were on 1820-1830C] were also destroyed for the pertinent period, there is no "primary evidence" of either marriage. Possibly Benton Co. cd have a dower rights record if they sold property there.
Notes for MICIE ADAMS: On 1860C; from surnames of children in household, it appears her first marriage was to a PATTERSON [4 girls born 1833-1844 in TN].
Children of HENRY ADAMS and C. ADAMS - nee are:
8. i. BRIANT (BRYAN)4 ADAMS, b. Abt. 1815, Smith Co, TN; d. Bef. 1870, Ballard Co.
9. ii. JR. HENRY ADAMS, b. Abt. 1821, Smith Co, TN; d. Ballard Co.
10. iii. S.H. ADAMS, b. Abt. 1825, Smith Co. TN; d. Aft. 1850.
iv. THOMAS A. ADAMS, b. Abt. 1833, TN; d. Aft. 1860
Notes for THOMAS A. ADAMS: In Henry Sr. household on 1850C; property tax 1855-60.
v. J. ADAMS, b. Abt. 1836, TN.
Notes for J. ADAMS: In Henry Sr. household on the 1850C; no later reference to him. His first name was probably either John or Jesse; more likely the later considering names handed down in the family.
